NHS complaints paused

NHS England and NHS Improvement have announced that staff have the option to ‘pause’ the NHS complaints procedure for three months.

The statutory duty to investigate and respond to complaints has not changed, but if the complaint is not deemed urgent, it can remain ‘open’ pending investigation.

The NHS is likely to publish further guidance for services

 

PHSO complaints paused

The Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO) will not accept new health service complaints nor progress existing ones where this requires contact with the NHS. They will continue to progress complaints about UK Government departments for the time being.
