Orthopaedic surgery services restored at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham

At the end of March services were changed with local patients with fractured neck of femur (broken hip) and lower limb fractures temporarily undergoing their surgery at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital.  From 8pm on Sunday 24 May, they will undergo their surgery at Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEHB) instead.

For those patients whose limb injuries requires further investigation, this will happen at their local hospital’s A&E department (Good Hope Hospital or Heartlands Hospital). They will then be conveyed to QEHB, by ambulance, if appropriate for surgery.

Rehabilitation will still take place at Good Hope and Heartlands Hospitals, when patients are fit to be discharged.
