Second testing centre to open in Burton
The Central Jamia Masjid Rizvia, in Uxbridge Street, will be running a Covid-19 testing facility.
A Burton mosque will be running a Covid-19 testing facility for the town after a new outbreak was reported.
Due to a spike in positive cases in Shobnall and Anglesey, all five mosques in the town are working with Staffordshire County Council to run the facility at one of Burton’s biggest places of worship.
The Central Jamia Mosque Rizvia, in Uxbridge Street, will be opening to accommodate the testing facility, which will be able to test more than 200 people a day.
The service will run on Thursday, July 23, and Friday, July 24, from 9am to 2pm.
Tariq Hussain, spokesperson for the mosque, says “its a complete community effort”.
The 51-year-old county councillor said: “These test’s will be conducted by a group of NHS professional nurses and tests are free.
