Rowan’s Rule – Infant CPR Videos now in several languages.

Last year we promoted the Rowan’s Rule video about infant CPR.

Rowan’s parents have this to say about their campaign:

“We are campaigning for the Health Secretary to introduce basic infant CPR following the birth of all children.  Our son Rowan fell asleep on Tuesday 25 October 2022 aged 14 days.
Rowan was having a feed when he stopped breathing at just 7 days old. He was soon rushed to hospital where he was made stable and then transferred to a specialist Paediatric Intensive Care Unit. Unfortunately after a week he sadly passed away from the effects of the cardiac arrest.
It was later confirmed Rowan was the latest victim of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).
When we realised that Rowan had stopped breathing it was a mad panic to search the internet for infant CPR in the hope of reviving him. The emergency services operator was amazing, but there were moments of panic realising we did not know what to do. Something we don’t want any parent to experience.
Before leaving hospital, we were shown a video ‘Shaking your baby is just not the deal’ instructing new parents not to shake their baby and the dangers of it but no tools to help us should the absolute worst happen.
What about educating parents on the basics of CPR? Is this not an essential life skill?
Heartbreakingly SIDS takes roughly 200 lives a year, with only 1% of those being whilst the parents / guardians are awake. We don’t know if this could have saved our darling boy, but it would have taken away the helpless feeling which will now haunt us for the rest of our lives.”

We have now been given a poster with a QR link to the video which is now available with sub-titles and in British Sign Language as well as in Urdu, Slovak, Romanian, Punjabi and Polish.

You can download a copy of the poster here:
